Our program

One school. Two paths. One idea running through both.

Everything we do comes back to a single conviction: a child who is trusted to direct her own work becomes an adult who can be trusted with anything.

Three children in red school sweaters work with Montessori materials at a table; one stacks coloured wooden cylinders while another sorts beads.

Why we started

Families in our community were choosing between schools that took their children's minds seriously and schools that took their faith seriously. We didn't think that was a real choice, so we built the alternative.

Taha Foundation School began as a small group of parents, a set of Montessori materials, and a conviction that our children deserve both. It remains a nonprofit, run for the families it serves.

Our mission

We exist to nurture the intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth of every child, so that our students grow into confident, principled, and independent members of their community.

How we teach

Four things shape every classroom we run, in person and online.

The prepared environment

Every material sits on an open shelf at a child's height, complete and ready. Nothing needs an adult to unlock it, so a child can begin the moment she is interested.

Mixed-age classrooms

Older children teach what they've mastered; younger ones see where they're headed. Both learn patience from it, and neither is measured against a single grade-level line.

Long work periods

Concentration takes time to arrive and is easily broken. Our mornings are built around one long, uninterrupted stretch of work rather than a bell every forty minutes.

Faith and character

Qur'an, akhlaq, and daily practice have a real place in the week, and so does the ordinary work of apologizing, sharing, and finishing what you started.
